According to Thai Government's 20-year growth plan under the "Thailand 4.0" initiative, the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), where Chonburi is located central at, will play an important role in the country's development.

Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) of EEC has risen by 59% in 2018. As of Jan 2018, the EEC has attracted US$9.3 billion in FDI.

More connected than ever

Thailand's first high-speed rail is expected to be completed by 2025, connecting both Bangkok's existing international airports through the EEC to the new

U-Tapao Airport in Rayong Provinces, with Pattaya station being one of the most important stations.

Located at the heart of ASEAN

Thailand is located at the heart of favourable trade policies such as the Belt & Road Initiatives (ongoing railway project from Kunming to Bangkok), Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (RCEP), as well as being well-connected with the neighboring fast-growing CLMV countries (Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam) are all drivers for Chinese FDI.
